For our special feature on endings in Brick 91, Jan Zwicky took a different tack than her fellow contributors. Instead of focusing on the ending of a beloved short story or novel, she moved us with her interpretation of a piece of music: Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Der Greis.”
In this Brick podcast, you can hear Zwicky reading her piece, followed by a performance of “Der Greis” by the Alcan String Quartet. Our great thanks to both the Alcan String Quartet and Analekta Records for giving us their kind permission to use this recording.
Jan Zwicky’s new collection of poetry, The Long Walk, will be published in the Oskana Series from University of Regina Press this fall. Her books of philosophy include Wisdom & Metaphor, Lyric Philosophy, and Alkibiades’ Love.
